I'm Yavor — a design engineer at Vercel
focused on building fast and accessible digital products that bring delight in your everyday life.
For the longest time I've pondered on how best to describe what I do. While I've technically always worked as a product designer, it was only in the last few years that I began to see the design engineer role emerge.
I wear many different hats but my primary focus is on product design, design systems and frontend development.
I was involved in building different core flows of the product. I designed, implemented and rolled out a new component library based on Radix. I also built various marketing mini-sites heavy on animations and interactions. My favourite one we shipped was FoundationOS.
At Ballpark, I initially lead the product design for all core product areas. More recently, I have been back helping out with product improvements, new features and a new design system based on Radix and TailwindCSS.
Oku is a side-project that I created with a couple of friends during the pandemic. It's a companion app which helps you track your reading and build your library. It is used by some 20k people who love it.
Marvel is where I started to think about design systems and component libraries more seriously. The product was growing quickly and we shipped the very first Marvel Styleguide. I worked on the prototyping tools, developer tools as well as the design and whiteboarding tools.
At Mixcloud, I designed and shipped features for web, mobile, iOS and Android. As a B2C product, it was used by people around the world and grew to 15m+ monthly active users by the time I left.
